The Wine and Dine Package

 

Interested in getting away for a few days and experiencing some of the fine produce of the Goulburn Valley? This 2-3 day adventure is ideal for a quick getaway. 

 

If travelling from Melbourne, head up the Hume Hwy and turn off to Mitchelton Winery and Chateau Tabilk. Both have cellar door service and fine lunch fare. Or you may prefer to turn off at Avenel and try some delicious food and wines at Fowles Winery.

 

Nagambie is the next stop with the famous Black Cavier statue located on the banks of the beautiful Nagambie lake. It’s a must to check out the Nagambie Brewery and Distillery where you can enjoy a meal and a drink while overlooking the beautiful Nagambie lake. 

 

Then up to Kyabram to relax at Haslem Cottage. Please let Helen know in advance in you would like to order tapas platter, champagne and chocolates on arrival. In warm weather sit and relax under beautiful shade trees in the garden. In Winter enjoy the ambience of a glowing fire.

 

While in the area take the time to enjoy what we have to offer … Take a stroll around Kyabram Fauna Park, or the impressive new art Gallery situated at the Kyabram Town Hall. And the beautiful tank mural at the old Kyabram Railway station.  While in Kyabram you may wish to dine at the Old Post Office now a popular restaurant Three 620 

 

Within 30 minutes arrive at the Barmah Lakes and enjoy a Kingfisher guided cruise or visit the Cape HornVineyard. Take a picnic basket or enjoy one of Cape Horns famous woodfired pizzas.

 

You may prefer a day in Echuca/Moama with many fine restaurants and wineries. We do suggest the Morrison’s Winery to Wharf Tour

 

On your way home take a trip to Heathcote. Enjoy a self-guided winery tour or join in the Heathcote Grape Escape Tour or drop in to the many boutique wineries such as the Shiraz republic for a glass of red

A Touch of Art and Culture

 

For art lovers and those who appreciate a gallery experience. For maximum enjoyment allow 3 days.

 

Haslem Cottage is centrally located and ideal accommodation if you are thinking about visiting galleries and/silo trails  in the central and northern parts of Victoria. This package has been trialled by several guests who have found it both relaxing and enjoyable. The tour begins and ends in Melbourne, but we can help with designing a package from other locations.

 

From Melbourne head up to Castlemaine and enjoy this beautiful and historic town with its gorgeous gallery. After a coffee break head to Bendigo. The Bendigo Art Gallery houses several famous 19th Century and contemporary Australian artists. It is also the home of famous travelling exhibitions.  The Art gallery is located in View Street, the home of antiques, collectables, wine bars and coffee shops. The area also boasts beautiful architecture and the famous Bendigo Cathedral.

 

Head across to Kyabram for a relaxing evening at Haslem Cottage. You may wish to pick up the Echuca/Moama Art trail if you head through Colbinabbin or Rochester on your way to Kyabram. 

 

Day 2 visit The Townhall Gallery Kyabram which houses  a number of  changing contemporary and splinter exhibitions. Head up to Echuca to the Alton Gallery and the Discovery Centre where you will find information on the latest exhibitions. Enjoy time in Echuca before returning back to Haslem Cottage. Or you may prefer to follow one of the Silo Art trails…the Echuca/ Moama art trail or the North East Silo Art Trail. You will head through the quaint and very arty town of Dookie.  Maybe a spot of lunch at the Dookie Pub. 

 

 

Day 3 As you start the journey home, visit the beautiful SAM Shepparton Art Museum, then head to Benalla for lunch and a tour of the famous Benalla Regional Gallery before heading back to Melbourne. If you prefer to travel home from Shepparton to Seymour a visit to the newly opened Vietnam exhibition entitled the Viets’ Commemorative Walk is a must.

Family Fun for Weekends and School Holidays

Haslem Cottage “a home away from home” is just the place for a small family. 

 

The Cottage comfortably sleeps 2 adults and 2 children. 

 

Haslem Cottage is located directly across from two ovals and three playgrounds.

 

Kyabram is centrally located between Shepparton and Echuca and only an hour from Bendigo. Families may enjoy the Kyabram Fauna Park with its beautiful Fauna and Flora.It has in 2022 become Victoria’s 4th Zoo and if you have a Melbourne Zoo membership you will receive free entry.  Edis Park has an exercise circuit, and if you are a tennis family, courts are available for hire.

 

Families can enjoy a day at Billabong Ranch located close to Echuca, or Twisted Science Centre. Enjoy a paddle steamer ride or the Port of Echuca and lots more family activities. You’ll find much to do at the Echuca Discovery Centre

 

Both little and big kids alike will enjoy Ardmona KidsTown on the Causeway between Shepparton and Mooroopna. Why not take a picnic or have a BBQ in the Ardmona KidsTown grounds. 

 

In Shepparton enjoy the beautiful lake and surrounds, Aquamoves Indoor Swim Centre, the Skatepark and Mooving Art are all popular family favourites. Or head to the new and popular Fun City, Rebound or GV Inflatable Nation for kids of all ages. If you have few days in school holidays, take a trip to Bendigo with its many historical attractions including the Chinese Joss House.
